Podcast: Making your career work for you, with Anne Fowler Wade

Anne Fowler Wade is a failed retiree, at least that’s how her husband would describe her. The Soulmate Dance blogger and coach develops courses to help people find love and relationships. She’s been consistently self-employed for 40 years and says she has always felt most secure being her own boss, after all, she needn’t worry about getting fired!

In this podcast, Anne explains to Elise Stevens how she has shaped her career to fit every stage of her life – through marriage and divorce, motherhood and ill health. After starting her own business with her ex-husband straight out of college, Anne soon learned her passion and strength was in helping people with the human side of their businesses. Naturally, when her marriage ended she took that part of the business and moved forward, training and coaching with a focus on helping others weave together their home life and work life.

When breast cancer struck 15 years ago, she was forced to reshape her career again, cutting back a little and focusing on work closer to home in small businesses, women-owned businesses and not-for-profits. More recently, operating her business online means Anne can write and coach from the road, so her and her current husband (who has successfully retired) can travel. If retirement means having more time to indulge in your passions – maybe Anne is retired after all!
